This is a tour where you can appreciate the nature, learn about the history and culture of Hong Kong and experience the life of local fisherman all at once!
Join us on an inspirational group tour, exploring Aberdeen, the cultural birthplace of Hong Kong. This includes Ap Lei Chau, the fourth most densely populated island in the world. During the 3-hour tour, we will be on foot and take a traditional wooden sampan fishing boat, and dive into the harbour’s history.
Enjoy a bowl of boat noodles, traditionally prepared by local fisherman, whilst enjoying the beautiful view of the Aberdeen Harbour on a sampan. You would be able to take photos in front of the iconic Hong Kong Floating Restaurant.
We will then visit one of the oldest public housing estates in Hong Kong to learn about the history of public housing development and understand more about how one-third of Hong Kong population live their lives in this second most expensive city in the world. A small hike around the area allows us to see the hundred-year-old waterfall and the seashore shrine which houses thousands of statues of Gods and Goddess, guarding people in the area for decades.

Why take this trip?
Embark on a captivating dolphin watching journey with the Hong Kong DolphinWatch team as we set sail in search of the enchanting “pinkies” – the native Chinese pink dolphins that grace the waters of Hong Kong. Our adventure unfolds in North Lantau, where the merging currents of the South China Sea and Pearl River create the perfect feeding grounds for the small pod that remains.
Against the backdrop of significant development, including the Hong Kong International Airport and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge over the past thirty years, coupled with ongoing water contamination, the population of these beautiful creatures has witnessed a steady decline. Join us on this expedition, not only to witness the breathtaking spectacle of dolphin watching but also to play a vital role in ecological preservation. By sharing our passion for these magnificent creatures and raising awareness about their plight, our trip contributes to the continuous monitoring efforts and provides valuable insights to local researchers, aiming to safeguard their natural habitat.
What to Expect:
This immersive three to four-hour group excursion commences every Sunday from Tsim Sha Tsui, where we embark on a coach transfer to Tung Chung to board the DolphinWatch boat. Our journey includes a comprehensive introduction to the dolphins by an expert DolphinWatch guide. Alternatively, options to board directly at Tung Chung are available. Spend precious hours at sea observing these dolphins in their natural habitat before returning to Tung Chung for a scenic bus ride back to Tsim Sha Tsui. Immerse yourself in the magic of dolphin watching while actively contributing to the conservation of these extraordinary marine beings.
